ImageTriage is an Explainable AI for automatic processing of disorganised and haphazard images.
It detects ill-defined features of interest and calculates their location, dimensions and orientation.
The software is based on customised decision trees and fuzzy logic and makes the image inspection pipeline fast, accurate, energy efficient, and inexpensive.
We are committed to delivering high-quality software solutions to our clients. Our team follows best practices in software development and testing to ensure that our clients receive a reliable and bug-free product.
We believe that communication is key to a successful project. We work closely with our clients to understand their needs and keep them informed throughout the development process.
The SML Managing Director is Professor Larissa Fradkin, BSc, PhD, FIMA, FInstP, MLMS. Her career spans 40 years, eight years as a Government research scientist at the Department of Industrial and Scientific Research in New Zealand, seven years as a Research Associate at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge and 16 years as an academic at London South Bank University, where she was running the Wave and Fields research group . Since 1997 Larissa was a principal investigator on 30 NDT research projects, with a grant total of over £2M, overwhelmingly for staff costs. For the past several years she has been concentrating on developing the AutoNDE module for automatic crack characterisation.
The SML Director of Research & Development is Callum Moscrip, an AI and Machine Vision Research Engineer with an BSc in Physics and MSc in Robotics. Since January 2019 as Director of Research and Development at Sound Mathematics Ltd, he has led the end-to-end development of FFS_Assess, a specialised software tool designed to assess pressure vessel corrosion and fitness for service. He oversaw the design, implementation, and validation of the system, drawing on internal R&D processes and close collaboration with domain experts. Callum gained AI experience using deep learning and instance segmentation to locate and classify images for agricultural robotic applications.
Alix Johnstone-Morfoisse has been supporting Sound Mathematics Ltd. as a business development consultant for over a year through her company, SimplyBD.
Alix started her career as a nuclear engineer, working across several UK projects (Hinkley Point C, Horizon Nuclear Power, EDF) and with major companies such as Amentum (formerly Jacobs). She then moved into business development, working at a new research facility in net zero technology at the University of Sheffield. She then joined the U-Battery (Urenco), advanced modular reactor project, after which she started her own company, SimplyBD, to provide services to start-ups and SMEs in the nuclear industry and support them to engage with potential customers and generate leads.
